What are the benefits?
For generations the Bailey Theatre has been a venue for vaudeville, silent movies, "talkies" and untold numbers of musical, social and cultural events. Restoration of this 100 year-old Vaudeville theatre would mean the preserving the history of the oldest performing arts theatre in Alberta. In addition, the restoration of the Bailey Theatre is a major component of the Camrose Main Street Project, a key ingredient in the Downtown Plan and a significant addition to the performing arts scene in Camrose. It is expected the theatre will also be a considerable tourist attraction for Camrose and Downtown.
How will the BAILEY be used?
The Bailey Theatre is a unique venue in Camrose for many reasons, including its history, location, layout, and size. The Bailey Theatre will be positioned to provide additional inventory of performing arts and community hall space, giving groups more options. The Bailey Theatre, when completed, will seat about 400 people concert style or about 200 in a dinner theatre format. Potential uses of the facility may include a working, interactive art/history museum, theatre camps, live entertainment, recitals, foreign/independent film festivals, comedy festivals, fundraising events, dinner theatre, meetings and receptions.
